In an ever-changing industry, we understand the importance of social media, and how it can impact our brand and relationship with professional partners. One of our primary goals with social media is to reach the heart of the food service industry -chefs in the kitchen. We create content with the aim of inspiring great flavor in recipes, and to showcase our onions from harvest to table. Take a look at some of the influencers we’ve had the pleasure of working with, which channels you can find us on, and what to expect from Gills’ social media.

Chef Influencer Collaborations

We are always on the lookout to collaborate with chefs who have a mutual passion for onions. These are a few of the chefs we’ve been honored to work with in recent years:

  • Grace Goudie

Instagram and TikTok: @chefgracegoudie

Restaurant – Scratchboard Kitchen

Chef Grace is a Chicago local and the lead executive chef at Scratchboard Kitchen – an incredibly woman-owned brunch spot. Grace is a young professional chef who has been a contestant on several Food Network shows including Chopped and Beat Bobby Flay.

  •  Michael Ponzio

Instagram and TikTok: @chefponzio

Restaurant – Park Ridge Country Club

Chef Ponzio is somewhat of a pioneer when it comes to chef influencers. This Chicago native comes from a large Italian family and is currently the executive chef at the Parkridge Country Club. We have loved working with him for the past two years in innovation labs and other capacities.

  • Amanda Rios

Instagram and TikTok: @chefamandasbusy

Restaurant – Chef Amanda and Co.

Chef Amanda has been featured on Food52, PopSugar, and Cooked with Cannabis on Netflix. Along with her work as a private chef, she is also the co-owner of Playa Baby Taco Truck. We love working with this vibrant Georgia native and getting her unique perspective on flavor.

  • Rich Wendel

Instagram and TikTok: @tasteofeverythingchef

Restaurant – Personal Chef/Caterer

Chef Rich also comes from a large Italian family which inspired his love of cooking at an early age. We love working with Rich because of his amazing recipes and expert approach at creating social media content.

Where You’ll Find Gills Online

You can find Gill’s Onions on most social media platforms today. While we are more active on some channels than others, we try to show up for our followers with a tailored approach to each audience. Our social features sustainability initiatives, onion facts, food-focused posts, product highlights, and more.

As a (mostly) B2B company, Gills really shines on LinkedIn. Here we are able to focus on networking, trade shows, and connecting with our business partners. Plus – everyone in the industry knows and loves our favorite farmer, Steve Gill, so we feature him often on LinkedIn.

Facebook is another sweet spot for Gills, as many chefs and sales partners are able to connect with us on this platform. We often post graphics, images and videos on Facebook.

Instagram is a great way to reach our younger Millennial audience. On Instagram, Gills mainly features recipe innovation and food content, but we also mix in some of the same graphics and videos shared on Facebook as well.

TikTok caters to a much younger audience and is a whole different ball game. We’ve been working on increasing our TikTok following this year with the hopes of reaching aspiring chefs and getting them familiar with the Gills brand.

YouTube is a great platform for hosting our professional videos and collaborations with chefs. We try to upload short, digestible videos that are easy to share across various platforms and websites.

Gills is also present on X.com (formerly known as Twitter) and Pinterest. Although we’re not quite as active on these sites, we still recognize the importance of showing up on as many social platforms as we can!

Social Media – an Ever-Evolving Approach

The world of marketing is changing rapidly, and social media isn’t what it was 5 years ago. We will continue to evolve our social media presence by investing time and talent into our platforms, and learning from our food service partners. The next generation of chefs are growing up on social media, and we want to be a part of that excitement.

Gills hopes to continue to stand out in the food service industry, especially as a company that cares about its social footprint.
